The Only Small Appliance You'll Need This Thanksgiving
You’ve volunteered to host your family for holiday dinner – your parents, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews…don’t forget your own kids! Prepping all that food for the holidays can be a hassle. From dragging out a seemingly endless line of cutting boards, pans, and bowls to making sure everyone can eat from the menu – space, time, and energy is at a premium, especially when you want to savor some of that holiday cheer for yourself. Can you feel the little scrooge on your shoulder creeping up?
Cue the KitchenAid Multi-Cooker! A basic all-in-one appliance for not only your holiday dinner needs, but the everyday as well, this multi-cooker will help cut down on time, space, and energy so you can put your feet up and lounge around with some warm apple cider.
Unfamiliar with what the KitchenAid Multi-Cooker has to offer? Let’s begin be reviewing the basic features that makes this truly an all-in-one must have appliance.
Sauté – Perfect for adding depth of flavor to your dishes, cook up some onions, garlic, etc. for your soups, meats without hauling out an additional pan.
Sear – Use this function to give your meat that perfectly caramelized and flavorful exterior. The best part is you can finish cooking it right where it is.
Soup – It’s chilly outside, who doesn’t want to come home to a warm bowl of soup this time of year? The one button guided setting makes it a snap.
Yogurt – Ever go to the store and they are out of your favorite flavor? Or worse, it’s discontinued? Make your own!
Risotto – Want to impress the in-laws? Use the one button guided setting and be sure to grab the optional Stir Tower Accessory for stress-free, flawless risotto.
Rice – Perfect rice every time and nearly impossible to mess up with the one button guided setting, this is 100% my favorite feature.
Boil/Steam – With even heat technology, this setting will make tender vegetables, hard boiled eggs, pasta etc. nearly effortless.
Keep Warm – After you’ve cooked up all that amazing food, use this function so the food will still be warm when everyone inevitably returns for seconds and thirds.
Slow Cook Low & High – You want to slow cook the traditional way? With a pour spout and way more functions, get rid of that heavy mass of a slow cooker already, because this multi-cooker has you more than covered.
Now that we know what it can do – here’s your game plan.
Before the big day:
Be sure to have your recipes picked out ahead of time and know how much time they take to cook. Mashed potatoes, corn, green beans, rolls…the options are truly endless! Don’t forget to include prep time. Planning ahead to ensure you have all of the ingredients and your timing right will cut down on stress overall and hopefully save you from the last minute mob in the store. Pro tip: The busiest shopping day of the year is always the Saturday right before Christmas – plan accordingly.
On the big day:
Get the turkey, ham, roast or other main entrée of choice started in the oven. Use this time to tackle the sides and desserts. Unfortunately, one thing the KitchenAid Multi-Cooker can’t do is knife work. So prep up your veggies (bonus points if you do this the night before), measure out ingredients, and then get cooking! Do you have some little helpers around the house? This is the perfect appliance to get them involved. You’ll still need to supervise of course, but with simple buttons to push, an easy set timer, and minus the hot burners of the stove, you can use some of your time to bond, learn, and who knows? You may even create a new holiday tradition.
When you are all done, the inner pot is non-stick, PTFE/PFOA free, and dishwasher safe, so the cleaning is as easy as the cooking. Does it get any better? Sure it does…if you hired a personal chef. Add that to the list for next Christmas.
