Fun Christmas Movies Worth Another Look
It’s that time of year where we spend time shopping online looking for the best bargain, complaining about a coffee cup, and writing Santa (my girlfriend) a letter explaining why I deserve that new limited edition Parley x Adidas collaboration. A shoe that is made of recycled ocean trash with old fish netting, I don’t exactly know how it works, but I want them!
Christmastime might also be the only time your mom allows you to play video games past your bed time because she is in a separate room trying to secretly wrap your Christmas gifts that Santa bought for you. No matter how quiet your mom tries to be, you hear that ripping and snip noise that the scissors make after cutting off a piece of wrapping paper. You love your Mom so you let her think you don’t know anything, but you just left the game in demo mode and you saw her wrap all of your gifts.
It is also the time where the roads are covered with white fluff and going outside requires that new fur coat that you purchased just for days like this. There were plenty of naysayers telling you not to buy it because you won’t wear it. Look at you now. YAASS, FLAUNT IT QUEEN!!!
With all the snow on the ground the chances of you wanting to go out and fight the elements is zero to none. What a perfect time to sit back, enjoy the snowfall, get cozy on your couch with your Sherpa throw blanket, and watch a few Christmas movies.
This movie takes place during Christmas time in Los Angeles. Danny Glover and Mel Gibson are a mismatched set of detectives that do not get along at all. Martin Riggs (Mel Gibson) is a former soldier that lost his wife in a car crash two years prior and has become suicidal, which leads him to take out his anger on his suspects. Roger Murtaugh (Danny Glover) a 50-year-old detective that is on the last leg of his career. This movie might not be the original buddy cop action comedy, but it might be the best one that has ever released.
Jingle All the Way
Arnold Schwarzenegger stars in this 1996 Christmas comedy that shows the lengths that a father will go to for their child. Jingle all the way is a movie about a toy and the hype around that toy. Think Tickle Me Elmo back in 1996. Do you remember what all those parents did for those little red dudes? It was a dog eat dog world in your local Toys ‘R’ Us. Just think about those Black Friday videos that have two people arguing over a $10 toaster. It could have been worse because cellphones, believe it or not, were only used for calling back then. The only cool thing you could have done on a cellphone was play the game Snake. Arnold is hilariously awful in kid/comedy movies. For example, Kindergarten Cop, Junior, and Twins. It is so awful it’s amazing!
The Preacher’s Wife
I will keep this short… Denzel Washington and Whitney Houston. Find me a better duo than that. Anything that Denzel Washington is a must watch. Whitney Houston’s legacy will live on for generations to come. No one has come close to her smash hit “I Wanna Dance with Somebody” or her performance of the Star Spangled Banner at Super Bowl 25 in 1991.
