How to Have the Perfect Backyard Movie Night

How to Have the Perfect Backyard Movie Night
Chelsea Slattery

One of the best things about the nice weather is that everyone is outdoors more.  Why be stuck inside on a gorgeous summer or fall night when you can enjoy the same things you do indoors – outdoors!  Creating a backyard movie night is a great way to get together with family, friends or neighbors to all enjoy one of your favorite films, a big game, or even a game of Mario Kart.  Sadly, outdoor movie theaters have somewhat become a thing of the past, but you can relive your nostalgia right in your own backyard.

One of your best options for a outdoor movie party is to a use a projector.  You can shine the projector onto the side of the house, on the garage doors or buy a projector screen.  Projector screens are perfect for outdoor use and setup is a breeze.

When it comes to projectors, there are many different options to choose from.  The Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 2045 Projector is a great choice.  Because of its built-in speakers and compact size, it can easily be taken outside.  This powerful little device delivers full HD 1080p content, with 2200 lumens of color brightness and 2200 lumens of white brightness.  In short: your movies will look really freaking good and you will definitely be the talk of the neighborhood.

Outdoor TVs

If you are wanting something a little more permanent, SunBrite TVs are the way to go.  They are completely weatherproof, and can withstand temperatures from -24 to 122 degrees.  The thin design keeps it looking sleek and modern in your space, and the powder-coated aluminum exterior keeps it tough in the harshest of conditions.  In terms of outdoor TVs, they are at the top of the game.

Skip the long lines at the movie theater, and pop up some popcorn at home.  Get an old-school effect and pop up to 10 cups of popcorn with the Nostalgia Electrics Kettle Popcorn Maker.  A quick and easy treat you can set up is a DIY popcorn bar—just put out your popcorn along with some of your favorite candies, and allow guests to mix and match.  Another plus to your backyard movie?  You’ll no longer have to worry about smuggling that box of candy in.  If popcorn isn’t your go-to movie snack, try a hot dog roller, quesadilla maker or even a smores maker.

If you have the room for it, an outdoor sectional would really be exceptional.  Imagine cozying up with your loved ones on this Zuo Modern Captiva Sectional while watching your favorite movie. Sounds pretty good, right?  You could also just put out some lawn chairs if you have them, or lay out a blanket.

Outdoor Seating

Enjoy the time with your family and friends, and don’t worry too much about the details.  You can make your party as simple or as elaborate as you want, but most importantly have fun!
