Whether you want to tighten and tone, build muscle, enhance your flexibility, strengthen your core, lose weight or increase cardio, just check out our selection of fitness machines, equipment and accessories for every need — from smart scales and activity trackers, to weight systems and home gyms.
When choosing fitness equipment, consider your fitness goals and the physical and technological features you are looking for. You should also think about the amount of space that you have at home to use and store the equipment.
Finally, before making a decision, don’t forget to think about your overall lifestyle, including family members and pets… and be realistic!
Here’s what I mean: If you bring home some colorful resistance bands today, will you come home tomorrow to find that the dog has used them as a chew toy? If that sounds exactly like your life, don’t give up on your fitness dreams! You can just choose a different resistance tool, or use some wall hooks to keep those bands out of reach.
I learned that lifestyle consideration the hard way. For a while I had happily used a balance ball at home, and then I caught my extra-rowdy young boys using it as an amusement park ride by jumping onto it and flying off sideways! They thought it was hilarious, of course, but I had visions of emergency room visits in their future, so I deflated the ball. Then I found a smaller, lower elevation inflatable balance tool, very similar to the Xerdisc, to help me stay fit without creating a temptation for my thrill-seeking kids.
We all feel happier and more energetic when we are healthy, but sometimes we do have valid reasons for avoiding that work out. Instead of feeling guilty, think about how you can design a fitness plan that will work better for you, and keep you on the right track. For example, jogging hurts my knees, so I switched to an upright stationary bike. Also, I usually feel bored in a public fitness center, so I choose to do fitness activities outdoors or at home.
If you are the type to lose enthusiasm quickly, a group activity like a 5K or a fitness class can be a great motivator. If you are thinking of taking a yoga class, you’ll be set to go with the sleek and lightweight Yoga Rollpack, which has plenty of pockets and storage spaces for all your gear.
You might think you don’t have room for some larger fitness equipment in your home, but if space is an issue, consider a smaller machine like the Mini Stepper, which covers less than 1 ft x 1.5 ft of floor space. Also look for machines that have a fold-up feature or a space-saving design.
If you want multiple work-out options but you don’t have the space in your room or your budget for multiple machines, consider a 2-in-1 machine like the Hybrid Trainer Pro Elliptical, which can also be used as a recumbent bike! This versatile machine is iFit Bluetooth enabled, has an upper-body workout, an unlimited workout library, Global Google Maps routes that take you anywhere in the world, an integrated tablet holder, and many other desirable features. Or, if you plan to keep your workout equipment in a home office, the InMovement Dynamic TreadMill Desk can help you save space while you work and get fit at the same time.
If weight loss is your goal, try motivating yourself with the Electronic Digital Scale with Picture Insert which can be displayed on the wall between uses. I just got one of these and I love it. By customizing your scale with a printed image of your goal or motto, you can remind yourself of what you are working for — like being able to fit into those favorite jeans again!
Now is also a great time to start training for some upcoming events like the Nebraska Furniture Mart 5K Walk & Run benefiting the TeamMates Mentoring Program! Stay tuned for more details on that race!
Whatever your goal, and whatever your individual lifestyle, the right fitness plan will keep you motivated, energized and happy. And if it makes you look great in a swimsuit… well, there’s nothing wrong with that, is there?
