Cameras Perfect for Your Summer Vacation
When people think of summer time they think of graduations, vacations, and fun in the sun! Choosing a camera can be a very daunting experience. Do I need high megapixels? What about zoom? Here, we’ll give you a little taste of the different categories that NFM carries to fit what works best for your needs.
Point and Shoot Cameras
The Sony DSC-W800 is a great entry level point and shoot because you have 20.1 megapixels which is going to take great photos, even if you have to zoom in. You have the ability to put the camera in Easy Mode which will keep the screen clear of unnecessary information, so you can capture quick moments. If you want to take it to the next step, there are picture effects that allows you to program the camera based on whatever you are shooting. It’s also smaller so easily fits in a purse, pocket, or bag. It’s perfect for your go-to moments!
A digital single-lens reflex camera (DSLR) can be a really fun way if you are interested in learning the ins and outs of aperture, f-stop and all the other photography terminology. You also can play around with different lenses to create different effects. With prices ranging from a few hundred dollars to thousands of dollars, stepping into the DSLR world can be very intimidating. Luckily, there are lots of great entry-level DSLRs that feature automatic settings and take great photos.
Released in 2015, the Canon Rebel T6i is a great starting out point for DSLR photography. If you want, you can use the automatic settings and get great photos or you can learn how to use the manual features as well. One of my favorite features of this camera is the ability to hook it up to your phone via Wi-Fi. From the Canon app you can look through the photos, download them to your phone, and then share them instantly!
Action cams are becoming the new way to record events. And long gone are the big clunky camcorders you’d have to carry on your shoulders. I’ve had a lot of fun with my Sony AS200 HD which takes amazing images and videos, but my pick for action cams is the GoPro Hero4 Silver Edition. I have experience with a GoPro and the one thing that stands out is how many accessories there are and how easy they are to use. There are GoPro accessories that can clip the camera on to your head, your bike, and there is even a camera harness for your dog!
The camera itself is very small, so weight is not an issue at all. It also comes with a waterproof case so you can dive into the ocean and get those great underwater shots! You get full HD video, built in Wi-Fi that you can connect to your phone. You can also view and control the camera via the GoPro App. Spend some time watching videos taken with a GoPro and you’ll soon be on your way into Nebraska Furniture Mart to get your own and record your adventures!
