There’s no doubt that prioritizing exercise is a good thing. Your body is healthier, your mind is clearer and stress levels are lower. But, when it comes down to it, our to-do lists usually get in the way of working out. Maybe the gym’s hours don’t work with your schedule. Maybe you prefer outdoor workouts, or just really want to watch that amazing new show everyone is talking about.  There will always be reasons not to workout, but a lack of resources shouldn’t be one of them.  That’s where my minimalist gym must-haves come into play!

With these multi-purpose fitness items, you can plan your workout into your day effortlessly, and without spending an arm and a leg. Not only are these picks affordable, they’re portable. You can take them to the backyard or position them directly in front of the TV. Read on for my top 5 fitness accessories to get you moving no matter what life throws at you.

Jump ropes are an incredible way get in some quick cardio.

No, this isn’t recess.  And no, you don’t have to be Rocky to get dripping with this classic cardio option. Jump ropes are incredible for getting your heart pumping. To ease your way into it, try going for 30 seconds straight, then increase your time gradually. To incorporate it into a full circuit, challenge yourself to do a pre-determined number of reps between exercises. The cardio is great for your heart, and the motion is great for your legs and shoulders.
