Tips on Selecting the Best Mattress for You

Pick the Best Mattress for You

Picking out a new mattress can take some time and consideration to find the perfect match for you. Everyone has a personal preference when it comes to firm or soft mattresses, not to mention all of the different materials that you can find in mattresses. Let’s take a closer look at some of the features you can expect to find with the selection of mattresses on sale at NFM.

Continuous Coil or Cage Coil Mattress

This is a traditional type of mattress. The coils are all connected in a “cage” like configuration.  Some of these mattresses can be flipped and lead to the illusion of it lasting longer then other types of  mattresses.

Benefits– These mattresses typically aren’t too expensive and are widely available. You’ll find good options for almost every budget.

Consider – Cause a lot of resistance and don’t offer pressure relief. The connected coils can also cause  motion transfer with movement disturbing your sleep cycle.

 Wrapped or Pocketed Coil Mattress

This type of mattress will feature an individual coil wrapped or pocketed in a fabric.

Benefits – There is far less motion transfer then a cage coil.  You’ll also find more support and pressure relief then a cage coil, this is due to the fact that the coil can move and bend more to your body.

Consider – Though this coil system is much better then a cage coil, there is still some resistance causing minimal pressure and there is still minimal motion transfer throughout the mattress.

 Visco Memory Foam Mattress

This is the most common memory foam mattress available. You can typically find this type of mattress at a variety of price points.

Benefits – Great pressure relief.  This mattress will completely conform to the consumers body.  Zero motion transfer throughout the bed causing less tossing and turning and  sleep disturbance.

Consider – These mattresses can have a “sinking” feeling and they tend to run warmer then coil mattresses. If inexpensive foams are used the mattress may not last long compared to other foam mattresses.

 Gel Infused Memory Foam Mattress

These mattresses feature memory foam with gel beads infused in the foam.

Benefits – Like a visco foam mattress will conform to the consumers body and will have zero motion transfer.  The gel beads in the foam actually make the mattress much more durable.

Consider – The gel may not have that much of a cooling effect. Therefore, this mattress will run hotter then a traditional spring mattress.

Memory Foam with a Phase Changing Agent Added.

Benefits – All the benefits of memory foam with out the heat.  This is the type of mattress I recommend the most.  The gels provide the correct support and will cradle you to sleep.

Consider– These mattresses can still have that sinking feeling found in foam mattresses.
