Cool spring nights and long summer evenings were made for gathering around the fire with your family and friends. Do you long for the familiar crackle and warmth of a campfire that can only be found with burning wood? Or, are you looking for a fire pit set complete with chairs for your patio? We’ll look at the pros and cons of each option to help you find the best fire pit for your backyard.
Gas fire pits are easy to start up and you can control the flames with a switch or knob. They’ll run off of a 20lb propane tank or a natural gas line from your home. Fire pit sets make a great centerpiece and they’re safe to use on a patio or deck. They’re perfect for get-togethers, however, they don’t produce as much heat as wood-burning fire pits. A big advantage here is that you don’t have to worry about smothering a fire at the end of the evening! Simply turn off the gas line and you’re done!
You can bring the warm and familiar feeling of a campfire to your backyard with a wood-burning fire pit. Wood is a cheap fuel, but there is a little bit more cleanup and maintenance required here. With that said, you need to be more careful since you should never leave a fire unattended. Keep a bucket of sand or dirt close by so that you can extinguish the fire before calling it a night.
