How to Use Mirrors as Decorative Pieces

Jenny Schroeder

Usually people think of large pieces of art or other wall décor to decorate their homes. A great way to make spaces look larger or add detail to a large wall is with mirrors.

An unusual way to add character in your home is with a mirror collage. Layering large and small mirrors together will make your space look larger and draw the eye to the back of the room or wherever you would like to draw attention to. We have several great mirrors here at Nebraska Furniture Mart to create the mirror collage of your choice.

You could even throw in some different pieces of art to place on the wall with the mirrors to add interest to the collage. Try mixing different shapes and sizes like this Round Mirror with Radiating Circular Design from Uma Enterprises.

Or, you could go with square ones like the Uttermost Ireneus Wall Mirror in Antique Burnished Silver.

Another fun way to use a mirror would be as a headboard for your bed. DIY headboards are trending right now and using a mirror would be a great way to make it stand out! A leaner mirror or larger horizontal mirror would be the ideal mirror to use as a headboard mounted on your wall behind your bed such as this Traditional Wall Mirror from Uma Enterprises.

If you’re using a mirror as a headboard or a leaner mirror in your home, you can add some character to it by using a bistro marker to write inspirational quotes on it or string a set of clear lights on it to add ambience in your bedroom.

A mirror like this Uttermost Kimani Wall Mirror in Antiqued Silver would be a great choice to use in your entryway above a console table or accent pieces. It grabs the attention of your guests and makes a bold first impression.
