The Smells of the Season
Candles are a serious mystery to me! I have always loved burning them and some would even say I’m a bit obsessive (my husband). I always have a candle burning anytime I’m home and normally they are burning in at least three of the rooms in our house. Candles provide me with a sense of calm and they warm up the house to give it that “homey” feel. The real mystery though is how do they come up with so many different scents and who has the awesome job of naming them?
This is my most favorite time of the year for candles because the scents are delightful! Right now I’m currently burning Cinnamon Apple, Cozy Fireplace, and Winter Wonderland but there are so many more that I’m dying to try out. I even have some in my drawers for when my current ones burn out (you can never be too prepared). But seriously, how fun are some of these names: Frosted Peppermint, Cinnamon Caramel Swirl, Marshmallow Fireside, Sparkling Icicles, Hot Buttered Rum, I’m already making up what I think they would smell like in my mind!
One of the best parts about candle shopping is when you pick up something and you’re like “This is an interesting name, wonder what it will smell like?” You open it up and it’s NOTHING like what you thought it would be. It’s crazy how the name of something can make you initially interested in it but the true art of candle buying is you must smell every single one before making a purchasing decision, right!?
There are candles for every occasion and they always make for excellent gifts! We sell candles here at the Mart and our selection is almost overwhelming. Make sure you carve out some extra time when shopping at our store to try out some of the holiday candles we are showcasing. If you enjoy a certain smell, like sugar cookies or the great outdoors, the nice thing about candles is that there’s a scent made for everyone! Make sure your house is smelling this holiday season and not in a bad way (stinky socks), your friends and family will appreciate it!
