Christmas Spirits

Christmas Spirits
Jordan Masten

Christmas is truly one of the most magical times of the year, but on the other hand it can also be one of the most stressful times of the year. It often feels like you’re running around like a chicken with your head cut off. Don’t worry, you’re not alone in this feeling! Christmas is all about gift giving, the presentation, food, and holiday aromas. Those things alone are enough to keep anybody busy.

It doesn’t matter if you have a big family or a small family, you’ll always find people to buy gifts for. Maybe it’s a co-worker, maybe you adopt a family for the holidays, or maybe it’s your crazy best friend that loves exchanging gifts every year! All I know is that spending every evening of the month of December bargain shopping is enough to drive even the most die-hard shopaholic nuts!

When you’re not shopping, one must put their significant other to work perfecting the outside of your house in freezing cold weather (while you supervise of course). The lights must be hung, the candy canes must line up perfectly, the bushes must be covered and the reindeer need the prime time spot in the yard.

Once you’ve frozen your fingers and toes off, it’s time to fight off the numbness in order to bake the perfect batch of cookies for your out of town guests or family. It’s all about building gingerbread houses and baking pies, peanut brittle, rice crispy treats, toffee, puppy chow and a list of a bazillion other tasty treats.

We can’t forget decorating the inside of the house either. Toss up the tree, hang the lights and ornaments, hang the stockings, shop for every cinnamon-flavored candle known to man, find your old snow globe and wrap the garland. BAM! Your house is filled with gifts, food, and is totally Christmas-ified!

Whew, deep breathe everyone! The holidays only happen once a year and while we all secretly enjoy the whirlwind, why not enjoy a holiday beverage as well? We deserve it. Think of all the hard work you’ve put in. Now is the time to kick back and relax and enjoy yourself a delectable cocktail of choice. I’d recommend any of the following:
