Fitness Findings Giveaway

As the month comes to an end, so does our fitness journey together. This month our blog has primarily been focused on educating our readers on best practices, must have accessories and equipment, and healthy eating/living tips. We thought we’d end this month by reviewing what we’ve learned along the way and, of course, a GIVEAWAY! We will be giving away TWO Fitbit Flex activity wristbands. How do you win? That’s a good question. You will need to answer the below question in the comment section of this post before February 5th, 2014. We will select two random winners and notify them via this blog post.

 Fitness Month in Review

  • Your children’s health is just as important as yours! Create healthier eating habits in your home.
  • Don’t jump right in to working out. Ease yourself into a new routine with group fitness.
  • Myth: You can’t indulge in a sweet treat every now and then. False. You need to reward yourself!
  • Interval training is a great way burn fat while increasing your endurance.
  • You need to set achievable goals and that will help you determine which workout is best suited for you.
  • Find key motivators through purchasing fitness accessories that set challenges for you.
  • Healthy eating is actually just as important (if not more important) than the hours you log in the gym.
  • Mix up your workouts in order to avoid boredom. Incorporate your hobbies to help. Ex. Mountain biking, yoga, kickboxing etc.

Last but not least, stick with it! We know you can do it. If you’re in need of a little motivation, come see us in our Fitness Department at NFM because we’re here to help.

    My personal/fitness goals for 2014 are to be able to hit goal weight of 145, sign up for a 10k, inspire more people with the knowledge I have learned in the past year, go back to school for my new love of health and fitness, get in more early morning workouts, take more progress pics, see definition in muscles and get in more cardio.

  2. I’m enhancing my eating habits by cooking more often. I’ve also dedicated myself to a specific workout regimen 5 times each week. Thank you for the opportunity to share.

    My goal of 2014 is really to get back to eating healthy and working on my portion sizes. I’ve been going to the gym since last summer but part of my goal is to go more constant and get out of my comfort zone and try a new class offered there.

    My fitness goal is to get back into the gym. First goal – go at least 10 times a month, longer term goal – go 20 times in a month (then my health insurance will pay me back for my membership). As of today, I’ve made it 10 times in January (and am going tonight too!). Found a group class that is fun and a great workout.


    I have a goal of eating local fresh produce and toning…I’ve joined a gym class to keep me motivated throughout the year.

    My goal was to quit smoking and lose 25 pounds. So far, I’ve not smoked in almost 4 weeks and have lost a little over 6 pounds. A FitBit would really help me determine how many calories I’m burning during exercise!

  13. I want to get off medications for blood pressure/cholesterol. So for 2014, I am working very hard to exercise, lose weight, and watch what I eat in order to get off the medications. I would really love to win the Fitbit Flex because then I would be able to track my activity levels and push myself harder when I need to.

    My goal is to be a fit momma! I currently hold back my 3 children due to my own self-consciousness, lack of energy, and inability to physically keep up. The leftover baby weight must go, but muscle mass must also be gained. I plan to continue this by keeping my appointments with the dietition, going to the gym 3-4 times a week, and eating smarter (portion size and food choices). Hopefully a healthier momma will also mean a healthier family!

    My fitness goals this year are to continue logging my food, working out 3-4 days a week while trying to incorporate new classes/workouts to keep my exercise regimen from getting boring. I’ve been having difficulty configuring my daily calories along with how many calories I have actually burned in my workouts since the machines and other online journals just give an estimate of calories burned. A Fitbit would be a Godsend to help me get things on track. Thanks for the opportunity to win one!

    Eating super LEAN, no carbs or sugars “paleo diet” working out like usual. Fat burners and sups definitely help as well. Low carb low sugar protein shakes as meal replacements. Goal: shred core body fat in 6mo or less.

    My goal is too eat healthier and begin exercising again. I want to teach my daughter a healthy lifestyle that she can follow as well. We have learned how to look at nutrition labels and choose what foods are best for us. I think this will take us a long way!

    My 2014 fitness goal is to get back into shape for my kids. In Late 2012, I had a pacemaker lead break and was pretty much bed ridden. I gained quite a bit of weight since every time I moved, I would get dizzy and feel like I was about to pass out. In March 2013, I got that problem fixed but my setting were set for a 60 yr old, not a 30-something yr old. Now I’m in business. Slowly but surely my additional weight is coming off. Ultimate goal is to lose 50lbs!

    After attending a Crossfit workout for breast cancer awareness in October, I joined the gym the next day. I am in love with this place! Didn’t know what my body was actually capable of! My goals are to do unassisted pull ups, climb the rope, and get my core strong enough to do a handstand.

    My goal is to lose 95 lbs. I have been using the fitbit since Dec. 28, 2013. I have lost 12 lbs so far. I love using the fitbit it keeps me from eating when I see I have eaten my calories for the day. I just can not wait for spring so I can fey out and ride my bike. I hope everyone can meet there goal as much as I want to meet mine.

    Give up drinking diet pop. Buy an elliptical for zero-impact workout required due to medical condition. Use elliptical daily for pain management and stress reduction. Focus on enjoying life rather than trying to survive it:)
