Black Friday Is Almost Here!

Black Friday is often regarded as the beginning of the Christmas shopping season. In recent years, most major retailers have opened extremely early and offered promotional sales to kick off the holiday shopping season. Many non-retail employees and schools have both Thanksgiving and the day after off, followed by a weekend, thereby increasing the number of potential shoppers. Black Friday has routinely been the busiest shopping day of the year.

The Black Friday name originated in Philadelphia, where it was originally used to describe the heavy and disruptive pedestrian and vehicle traffic which would occur on the day after Thanksgiving. For many years, it was common for retailers to open at 6am, but in the late 2000s, many had crept to 5am or even 4am. This was taken to a new extreme in 2011, when several retailers opened at midnight for the first time.

For some people, Black Friday is a game that they just can’t wait to play. For others, it’s a necessary evil to get the best deals on their holiday shopping. No matter what your approach is, however, the help of an app or two can probably make the trip go more smoothly.

Our stores are closed for Thanksgiving so our staff and customers can enjoy a wonderful holiday and some quality time with family. Check out our Black Friday ads online to plan out your early morning shopping needs. We look forward to seeing you bright and early Friday morning when the store opens at 6AM!
