What Size Dining Table Do You Need?

table sizing guide

The holidays are just around the corner and to make things easier for our customers, we have some quick tips on dining tables and seating to help save time while preparing for company.

Round and oval tables are convenient because everyone is facing each other, making conversations easier and more enjoyable. These tables often feature pedestal or double pedestal bases, which makes for obstruction free seating all the way around. A draw back with these shapes is that if there’s a large amount of food, passing it around it can be more difficult as the table size increases. Expanding these tables can also be an issue as it’s harder to maintain the same shape without becoming more expensive.

Square and rectangular tables are the most common, and while ease of conversation is not the best, it is still manageable. Table legs have prominent designs with these shapes and can obstruct the seating of some, but pedestal and trestle bases are also available. Expanding these tables with extra leaves is more convenient, and often more affordable due to their popularity. The charts below will help you determine what table shape and size is most suitable for your home.
